Assistant Controller

A university seeks an Assistant Controller to support the growing the graduation rate of the college. This position stands on 6-month contract basis; however, it has the potential to expand to permanent work. Additionally, this is a great opportunity for an exceedingly organized individual looking expand in a vigorous environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and appropriateness of records
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and reports and narrative for leadership team
  • Analyze monthly financial data and generate timely communication of financial data that reflects actual financial performance
  • Reconcile and review of accounts receivables and collections from all business units
  • Work closely with HR and Payroll department to ensure wages and benefits accurately coded and in line with budgeted amounts
  • Reconcile monthly financial aid, data, and all development funding and releases of restricted assets
  • Supervise financial operations team and review monthly bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, prepare cash flow and projections
  • Manage fixed assets accounting systems, including calculation of monthly and annual depreciation expense
  • Assist in the annual operating budgeting process, analysis and review of budget proposals

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 5 to 8 years of financial management experience
  • Experience supervising accounting staff and providing customer service
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains and Report Manager a bobus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; excellent skills in Excel 
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

Nice to Haves:
  • Prior higher education or non-profit experience 
  • CAMS knowledge
  • Capability to multi-task, take initiative, work independently, and use creative problem-solving skills
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, organized, analytical and collaborative
  • Ability to create and maintain a team spirit and harmonious working relationship
