A nonprofit organization, with the mission to end homelessness in Greater Boston, seeks an energetic and experienced Controller to join their growing and evolving Finance Department. This individual will manage the smooth operations of the day to day accounting functions and provide key reports and analysis. Additionally, this is a tremendous opportunity for someone who is passionate about forming enduring and professionally supported relationships that can make a difference in the lives of others.  

  • Ensure the smooth, timely and accurate operations of the accounting functions
  • Oversee, evaluate and manage staff including the Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialist
  • Manage cash flows, produce cash flow reports
  • Oversee and produce monthly and quarterly financial reports for management
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state grant requirements and any loan covenants
  • Provide various financial analysis and models as needed

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in directing a financial team 
  • Bachelor’ s degree
  • Exceptional accounting skills
  • Strong technology skills specifically with accounting software and Excel
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Dedicated leader and commitment to fostering an exceptional team culture
  • Ability and desire to see projects through to completion
  • Excited to build a highly functioning and service-oriented department with a brand that exudes trust and reliability

Nice to Haves:
  • Nonprofit experience 
  • Master’ s degree in Business Administration
  • Involvement with state and federal contract 
  • Competence to multi-task, take initiative, work independently, and use creative problem-solving skills
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, organized, analytical and cooperative
  • Capability to create and maintain a team spirit and harmonious working relationships
