External Reporting and Budgeting Analyst

Are you highly motivated and detailed? Ready to join a fast-paced organization? A publicly held life science company seeks an External Reporting and Budgeting Analyst to join their team! This individual will research and gather information to be used in the planning, preparation, and submission of external reporting-related SEC filings. Moreover, this is a tremendous prospect for an initiative-taking, creative-thinking individual who is interested in driving change within an organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure preparation and timely filing of Form 10-Q/10-K/8-K in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements 
  • Research technical accounting matters and author technical accounting memoranda regarding changes in or application of guidance and treatment of transactions
  • Participate in quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Manage and participate in the annual budgeting process and interim forecasting process
  • Handle the monthly variance analysis process and reviewing results 
  • Identify and implement budgeting software to aid in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Collaborate to build and maintain models related to revenue, budgeting and forecasting
  • Formulate monthly and quarterly accruals related to clinical trials and outside research agreements
  • Assist in the preparation of clinical trial budgets and tracking of expenses

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 3 to 6 years of public accounting/public company experience and/or SEC reporting experience
  • Proficient with the conceptual and practical application of U.S. GAAP
  • Working knowledge of financial reports and disclosures
  • Experience with Active Disclosure and NetSuite 
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Solid Microsoft Office expertise (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Skype, and Excel)
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
  • Robust organization, planning, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated accurate, consistent and timely work in accordance with deadlines and policies

Preferences
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements
  • Biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Highly attentive to detail 
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, organized, analytical and collaborative 
  • Capability to create and maintain a team spirit and harmonious working relationships
  • Competence to multi-task, take initiative, work independently, and use creative problem-solving skills
