A world class university seeks a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join their team on a 5-month contract basis. However, this position has the potential to convert into permanent work. The individual in this role will be responsible for providing talent acquisition and HR support to various departments. Moreover, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is very motivated to learn, attentive, and grow as a professional.

Responsibilities
  • Review, edit, and update job descriptions
  • Engage in the interview process by reviewing resumes and applications 
  • Conduct telephone screening
  • Schedule in-person interviews for hiring managers
  • Maintain intake data on interviews including notes and recommendations for hiring managers on candidate selection
  • Identify and suggest effective methods for sourcing and screening candidates 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’ s degree and/or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years of related HR experience, including recruitment and sourcing of candidates
  • Practice working with Applicant Tracking Systems such as PeopleSoft, TalentLink, Workday, Taleo, etc
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook) and computerized accounting systems
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Highly attentive to detail 
  • Exceptional customer-service skills, able to respond to employee questions with tact and diplomacy 

Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with bargaining unit/labor contracts
  • Strong service-oriented attitude 
  • University work experience
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, organized, analytical and collaborative 
  • Capability to create and maintain a team spirit and harmonious working relationships
  • Competence to multi-task, take initiative, work independently, and use creative problem-solving skills
